Installation Project Manager – Steel Buildings
Location: Newport, South Wales
Salary: £35,000 – £42,000 + Performance Bonus
About the Role
Brunel Steel Buildings is looking for a highly organised and practical Installation Project Manager to take ownership of delivering our steel building projects from order through to completion.
This is not a large-scale construction project management role. Projects are typically smaller commercial, agricultural, and domestic buildings. Success comes from being hands-on, organised, and confident managing subcontractors and customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and manage a reliable subcontractor network (steel erectors, groundworks, fit-out trades)
- Coordinate installations, deliveries, slab works, and schedules
- Carry out pre-installation checks (site readiness, access, drawings, risks)
- Oversee quality control, snagging, and customer handovers
- Maintain job records, photos, and documentation
- Control subcontractor costs and avoid unnecessary extras
- Communicate clearly with customers throughout projects
- Resolve site issues quickly and practically
What We’re Looking For
Ideal Background
- Small works construction or multi-site coordination
- Steel, agricultural, or industrial buildings
- Groundworks / civils coordination
- Installation management (windows, roofing, modular, etc.)
- Former site supervisor moving into coordination
Key Skills
- Strong subcontractor management
- Highly organised with attention to detail
- Confident communicator
- Commercial awareness (cost, margin, risk)
- Calm under pressure
- Practical, problem-solving mindset
Nice to Have
- Steel or portal frame experience
- Ability to read drawings
- SMSTS / SSSTS / CSCS
- Experience with quoting tools
