Site Investigation Technician
Location: Field Based / Billericay
Salary: : £29,742 - £33,557 (DOE)
Contract: Full Time
We are currently looking for a Site Investigation Technician to join a growing team supporting a variety of ground investigation and environmental projects across the UK.
This is a hands-on field-based role involving soil, rock, and groundwater investigations to support construction, engineering, and environmental projects. The successful candidate will work closely with engineers, geologists, and site teams to deliver high-quality site investigation services safely and efficiently.
Key ResponsibilitiesFieldwork & Sampling
- Carry out site investigations including soil, rock, and groundwater sampling
- Assist with drilling operations, trial pits, and borehole logging
- Operate and maintain site investigation equipment and testing kits
- Conduct in-situ testing including soil density and permeability testing
- Support CCTV surveys and monitoring activities
Data Collection & Reporting
- Accurately record field data, measurements, and site logs
- Prepare site notes, sketches, and reports
- Ensure samples are correctly labelled and transported
- Support engineers and geologists with site data collection
Health & Safety
- Follow all site health & safety procedures and risk assessments
- Ensure compliance with environmental and company standards
- Correctly use PPE and maintain safe working practices
- Report hazards or unsafe conditions promptly
Equipment & Team Support
- Maintain and calibrate equipment and tools
- Assist with site setup and demobilisation
- Work collaboratively with engineers, supervisors, and contractors
- Support project delivery to agreed deadlines and quality standards
What We’re Looking For
- Previous experience within site investigation, construction, groundworks, or a similar field-based environment
- Good attention to detail and record-keeping skills
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Good understanding of health & safety procedures
- Reliable, organised, and proactive approach to work
Essential Requirements
- Full UK driving licence
- Willingness to travel to various site locations
- Ability to carry out physical/manual work
Desirable
- CSCS card
- Experience with trial pits, boreholes, or soil sampling
- CCTV survey or monitoring experience
- Relevant qualifications in Geology, Civil Engineering, or Environmental Science
