Trainee Nursery Assistant
Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Trainee Nursery Assistant to join our professional childcare team. The successful candidate will demonstrate a passion for early years education and a commitment to fostering a nurturing, stimulating, and safe learning environment. In this role, you will support daily nursery operations while maintaining the highest standards of care and child well-being.
Key Responsibilities
- Activity Support: Assist in planning and implementing age-appropriate activities aligned with the Curriculum for Wales.
- Child Well-being: Provide attentive care and supervision to ensure the physical safety and emotional security of all children.
- Developmental Guidance: Support children’s social, emotional, and cognitive growth through positive, encouraging interactions.
- Environment Maintenance: Maintain a clean, hygienic, and highly organised nursery environment in line with health and safety regulations.
- Partnership with Parents: Communicate effectively and professionally with parents and guardians regarding daily updates and child progress.
- Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with the early years team to maintain a cohesive and supportive working atmosphere.
- Professional Growth: Participate actively in mandatory training, staff meetings, and continuing professional development (CPD).
Experience & Attributes
- Childcare Familiarity: Previous experience in a nursery, childcare, or educational setting is highly desirable.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written English communication skills are essential; professional proficiency in Welsh is advantageous.
- Interpersonal Skills: A patient, reliable, and deeply caring attitude towards young children.
- Team Dynamics: Proven ability to work effectively within a team and take initiative during group activities.
Role Requirements
- Qualifications: GCSE English and Mathematics at Grade C / 4 (or equivalent) or above.
- Employment History: Prior experience in a professional, employed work environment.
- Vetting: A valid Enhanced DBS check, or a willingness to undergo the clearance process.
- References: Ability to provide two professional references, including at least one from a current or recent employer.
