Job Vacancy – Alimah (Full-Time & Part-Time)
The Association of Scottish Muslims (ASM) is seeking motivated and dedicated Alimahs to join our teaching teams at:
Blackhall Mosque, Edinburgh
Broomhouse Mosque, Edinburgh
We are currently recruiting for both Full-Time and Part-Time positions.
Role Overview
The successful candidates will support Islamic education and community engagement activities within the mosques, helping to nurture students in a positive and Islamic environment.
Teaching Schedule Requirements Weekday Sessions
- Monday – Thursday: 4:55pm – 7:10pm
- Friday: 3:40pm – 5:40pm
- (Total: approx. 11 hours)
Weekend Sessions
- Friday: 5:40pm – 8:10pm
- Saturday & Sunday: 10:55am – 1:40pm
- (Total: approx. 8 hours)
Flexible arrangements may be considered depending on the role.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Teach Quran, Islamic Studies, Duas, and basic Arabic to children and young people
- Plan and deliver engaging lessons suitable for different age groups
- Support students’ Islamic development and character building
- Maintain a safe, respectful, and positive learning environment
- Assist with mosque educational programmes and community activities
- Communicate effectively with parents and mosque management when required
- Participate in mosque events, workshops, and seasonal programmes
Essential Skills & Requirements
- Qualified Alimah with sound Islamic knowledge
- Experience teaching children and young people preferred
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work positively within a team environment
- Flexible and supportive towards mosque activities and community events
- Organised, reliable, and professional approach to work
- Must have the legal right to work in the UK
- Based in or willing to work in Edinburgh
