Registered Manager – Specialist Children’s Residential Home

Salary: Up to £65,000 + Bonuses (£10,000 Welcome Bonus + Up to £10,000 Annual Bonus)

An opportunity has arisen to join one of the UK’s leading specialist residential care providers as a Registered Manager for a highly therapeutic 2-bed Children’s Home supporting young people aged 12–18 with complex mental health needs and risks associated with self-injurious behaviours.
This is a rewarding leadership opportunity for an experienced residential childcare professional who is passionate about improving outcomes for vulnerable young people within a safe, nurturing, and multidisciplinary environment.
Working closely with the Head of Service, clinicians, education staff, and external professionals, you will lead the delivery of high-quality, child-focused care while ensuring regulatory compliance and excellent safeguarding standards.
The Role
As Registered Manager, you will:
- Lead and manage a specialist 2-bed Children’s Home
- Ensure the home achieves and maintains a minimum “Good” Ofsted rating
- Oversee tailored care plans and therapeutic support strategies
- Lead, motivate, and develop a residential childcare team
- Manage safeguarding concerns, complaints, and child protection matters
- Promote a safe, nurturing, and therapeutic home environment
- Work collaboratively with clinicians, teachers, social workers, and external agencies
- Support care reviews, placement planning, and successful transitions
- Ensure compliance with Children’s Homes Regulations, Quality Standards, and SCCIF requirements
- Manage staffing, budgets, resources, and operational performance
- Promote reflective practice, continuous improvement, and positive team culture
- Maintain high standards of recording, reporting, and professional accountability
About You
We are looking for a resilient and experienced leader with a strong background in children’s residential care and therapeutic practice.
Essential Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in children’s residential care
- At least 1 year in a supervisory or management role within the last 5 years
- Level 3 Diploma in Children’s Residential Care
- Strong understanding of safeguarding, childcare legislation, and Quality Standards
- Experience supporting young people with complex behaviours and trauma-related needs
- Excellent leadership, organisational, and communication skills
- Full UK driving licence
Desirable:
- Level 5 Leadership & Management qualification (or willingness to complete within 6 months)
