We are hiring for a_ Senior Mechanical Operations Manager / Head of Projects _opportunity that I believe could be relevant to your background.
This role is to work for a growing mechanical contractor specialising in building-services pipework, installation and offsite manufacturing. They are looking for an experienced mechanical leader to take complete ownership of their Projects Division.
This is not simply a role managing one or two projects. You would be responsible for the operational performance of the entire division, overseeing multiple live projects and leading the Project Managers, Supervisors, Engineers and site teams responsible for delivering them.
The role will include:
- Leading and developing the mechanical projects team
- Overseeing projects from pre-construction through to handover
- Managing project programmes, labour plans and procurement schedules
- Forecasting labour and resource requirements
- Monitoring project costs, productivity and cost-to-complete
- Protecting margins and ensuring variations are recovered
- Identifying project risks before they affect delivery
- Improving reporting, systems, structure and accountability
- Working closely with Commercial, Estimating, Procurement and Finance
- Reporting directly to the Managing Director
The business is specifically looking for someone who has progressed from a pipefitting or closely related mechanical trade background and has strong technical knowledge of commercial building services, including pipework, heating and chilled-water systems, plant rooms, public health and mechanical installations.
You should also have experience managing multiple projects, leading senior project teams and taking responsibility for programme, labour, commercial performance and divisional forecasting.
The position is based from the company’s Bristol office, with regular site visits across Bristol, London, the South and the Midlands.

The client is prepared to consider an established Mechanical Operations Manager, Head of Projects or Contracts Director. They may also consider an exceptional Senior Mechanical Contracts Manager who already oversees multiple projects and manages other Project Managers.
Pay: £100,000.00-£130,000.00 per year
