Capper Sharrock is an established, independent flooring distributor based in Bury. As our business continues to grow, we are recruiting professional Class 2 drivers to join our permanent delivery team.
Our new driver package provides guaranteed earnings, paid breaks, job-and-finish working and a firm commitment that your average working week will not exceed 45 hours.
Your starting rate will be between £14.00 and £14.86 per hour, determined by the length of time you have held your relevant HGV licence.
This allows us to recognise the professional experience you already have rather than expecting every new employee to start at the bottom. Newly qualified Class 2 drivers are also welcome and will have a clear route for future progression.
The security of guaranteed pay
You will receive:
- 45 hours’ pay guaranteed every week
- £630–£668.70 guaranteed weekly pay
- £32,760–£34,772.40 guaranteed annual pay
- £15 per month Driver Professional Payment
- Potential guaranteed annual package of £32,940–£34,952.40
- Uncapped reusable-tube payments in addition to your guaranteed package
Your actual working hours will be formally measured across three 17-week reference periods each year.
Your average working week is guaranteed not to exceed 45 hours within any of those periods.
When your route and associated duties have been completed safely and efficiently, you finish the job. You will not lose your guaranteed weekly pay when your work is completed in fewer than 45 hours.
You receive the security of 45 hours’ pay without being expected to work consistently excessive weeks.

The role
You will complete scheduled multidrop deliveries to flooring retailers and trade customers across the North West, North Wales and Yorkshire.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Driving a company Class 2 vehicle
- Completing deliveries safely, accurately and efficiently
- Carrying out and recording daily vehicle checks
- Reporting defects promptly
- Checking that loads are secure and correctly distributed
- Delivering carpet, vinyl and associated flooring products
- Loading and unloading products safely
- Obtaining accurate proof of delivery
- Recording shortages, damages and delivery issues
- Maintaining professional standards when dealing with customers
- Looking after your allocated vehicle
- Complying with drivers’ hours, Working Time and road transport legislation
- Supporting the collection of reusable cardboard tubes
- Representing Capper Sharrock professionally throughout your working day
Please understand the physical nature of the role
This is not a parcel-delivery position.
Flooring distribution involves handling and delivering long, bulky and sometimes heavy products. You must be comfortable with regular physical work and able to complete deliveries safely at different customer premises.
The appropriate equipment, training and support will be provided, but you must be willing and physically capable of taking an active part in loading and unloading your vehicle.

What we are looking for
You must have:
- A valid Category C/Class 2 driving licence
- A valid Driver CPC qualification
- A valid digital tachograph card
- A safe and responsible approach to professional driving
- Good knowledge of vehicle checks and defect reporting
- The ability to secure and protect loads correctly
- Reliable attendance and timekeeping
- A professional and helpful approach with customers
- The physical capability to carry out the role
- The ability to work independently and as part of a wider team
Newly qualified Class 2 drivers are welcome to apply.
Previous multidrop, flooring, carpet, construction-product or physical-delivery experience would be beneficial, but attitude, reliability and safe working are equally important.
