Senior Practice Accountant
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Senior Practice Accountant to join our friendly and growing accountancy practice on a full-time basis.
This is a varied role that would suit someone who enjoys all aspects of general practice rather than specialising in one area. You will work with a wide range of clients, preparing year-end accounts, Personal Tax Returns, Corporation Tax Returns, VAT Returns and payroll, whilst providing day-to-day advice and support to clients. There may also be opportunities to assist with audit work.
We are looking for someone who is proactive, organised and enjoys building long-term relationships with clients. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious accountant who is looking to develop their career within a supportive and progressive practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparing year-end accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies.
- Preparing and submitting Self Assessment Tax Returns.
- Preparing Corporation Tax Returns.
- Preparing and reviewing VAT Returns.
- Processing payroll and dealing with PAYE matters.
- Advising clients on day-to-day accounting, tax and business matters.
- Liaising directly with clients and responding to queries in a timely and professional manner.
- Preparing and maintaining client records using software including Xero, Sage and QuickBooks.
- Supporting and mentoring junior members of the team where appropriate.
- Ensuring all work is completed accurately and in accordance with current legislation.
- Assisting with audit assignments where required.
About You
The successful candidate will:
- Be ACA or ACCA qualified.
- Have recent experience working within an accountancy practice.
- Have experience preparing statutory year-end accounts.
- Be confident preparing Self Assessment and Corporation Tax Returns.
- Have a good working knowledge of VAT and payroll.
- Be proficient in Xero, Sage and QuickBooks (or similar cloud accounting software).
- Have excellent communication and client relationship skills.
- Be well organised with strong attention to detail.
- Be able to manage their own workload and meet deadlines.
- Enjoy working as part of a collaborative team and be willing to support colleagues whenever needed.

Pay: £45,000.00-£50,000.00 per year
