Phoenix Drilling Limited is looking for an experienced Engineering Geologist to join our growing team based at our head office in Livingston, West Lothian.
Working across a wide range of ground investigation projects throughout Scotland and the wider UK, this is a varied role combining office-based project support with site supervision and fieldwork.
We are looking for someone with a good understanding of the ground investigation industry who is organised, proactive and confident communicating with clients, site teams, subcontractors and colleagues. The successful candidate should be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, managing competing priorities and working to project deadlines.
The role will consist of:
- Logging of soil and rock core to BS 5930
- Undertaking trial pitting, gas & groundwater monitoring
- Project supervision and in-field project management
- Preparation of health and safety documentation
- Scheduling the analysis of soils, water and rock core testing and control of samples
- Preparation of factual reports and engineering records using geotechnical software
- Procurement of plant and equipment where required
- Attend site meetings with clients/representatives
- Supporting the wider contracts and operations team with the successful delivery of projects
The successful applicant must:
- Hold a full UK driving licence
- Have a degree in Engineering Geology, Geology, Physical Geology, or other Earth Science related subject
- Ideally have a minimum of three years’ experience in the geotechnical industry
- Have a valid CSCS card
- Be confident working independently both in the office and on site
- Have strong organisational and communication skills
- Be willing to travel and undertake fieldwork throughout the UK when required
Freelance applicants are also welcomed, with opportunities available to support individual projects or provide ongoing engineering and site supervision support.
