Job Summary
We are seeking a prep assistant to join our busy smokehouse. The role consists of mainly early starts, working unsupervised following a prep list and supporting our chefs through service.
Starting from 6am you will prepare our fresh food and fire up our smoker ready to slow cook our meats ready for service. As things pick up you will be on hand to help our chefs serve up our great dishes.
There is plenty of opportunity to develop and grow.
Responsibilities
- Assist with food preparation and meal assembly in accordance with recipes and standards
- Support chefs and cooks with various kitchen tasks including chopping, peeling, and portioning ingredients
- Ensure all food safety and hygiene regulations are strictly followed at all times
- Maintain cleanliness of work surfaces, utensils, and equipment throughout shifts
- Help with the organisation of stock, including receiving deliveries and storing ingredients appropriately
- Serve meals to customers or staff as directed by senior team members
- Assist in setting up dining areas for service and clearing after meals
- Support catering events by preparing ingredients and assisting with event-specific requirements
Experience
- Previous experience in catering, cooking, or restaurant environments is desirable but not essential; training will be provided for suitable candidates
- Familiarity with food preparation techniques and kitchen safety procedures is advantageous
- Experience in meal preparation, food safety practices, or culinary roles will be highly valued
- Ability to work efficiently under supervision while maintaining high standards of hygiene and organisation
- Enthusiasm for learning new skills within a busy kitchen environment
