Risk Manager Logistics & Functions Opportunity with the Civil Works Alliance (CWA), Supporting Sizewell C
As part of the CWA (Civil Works Alliance), you will support the building of Sizewell C. Sizewell C will be a 3.2-gigawatt power station generating low-carbon electricity for around 6 million homes and will play a key role in our energy future, supplying reliable, clean electricity for at least 60 years. This role will be within the CWA Wide Section.
What will you do?
The purpose of the role is: The provision of risk management services in support of the Sizewell C portfolio.
Principal Accountabilities, Activities and Decisions
- First point of contact for all Logistics & Functions risk management leadership and governance activities and requirements.
- Accountable for ensuring process compliance and controls are in place for effective Logistics & Functions risk management
- Reporting to the Assistant Head of Risk (Discipline), Head of Logistics (Function), and Heads of Functions.
- Provide risk management support and guidance as required to the CWA and cross-functional teams
- Assist in leading risk management activities (Functional Risks, Opportunities & Issues Management) across the CWA to ensure risks are identified, managed and mitigated effectively
- Accountable for the collation & interpretation of all QRA outputs for Logistics (if required) arising from periodic risk updates (e.g. from option-engineering and client change management), providing a complete picture of the risk adjusted forecast and interpolating it into a sub-portfolio picture.
- Responsible for assuring the quality of the CWAs Logistics reporting

- Working with Functional & Section Leads to ensure appropriate Logistics risks are brought to the attention of the Alliance Risk Group for escalation or delegation

- Ensure Logistics & Functions risk assurance activities are carried out effectively
- Ensure CWA Programme, sub-portfolio & portfolio risk registers are updated and maintained, containing all Logistics risks are identified and mitigated
- Drive and monitor activities to reduce and remove CWA uncertainties and risks where possible
- Mentor project staff on all aspects of the risk management governance, processes and assurance
- Aggregation and reporting of risks within the CWA for escalation and delegation – in collaboration with the other team members
- Drive innovation and best practice in the approach to risk management and analysis
- Support to Alliance, Section and Client risk reporting
- Assist the CWA risk early warnings, risk KRIs and other risk metrics, working with the Head, Deputy and Assistant Head to ensure risk management governance is applied in the Logistics & Functions risk space.
What are we looking for?
Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
- Possess excellent communication, interpersonal, and facilitation skills, enabling effective communication with senior leaders to influence risk-informed decision-making.
- Demonstrable evidence of working as a risk manager in logistics, Functions and enduring risks within a large / mega project.
- A recognised risk management qualification (MoR_P, APM1 / 2, IRM Foundation or above).
- Be able to work effectively within Client programme and Alliance delivery teams.
- Demonstrate proficiency in leading risk teams within a wider programme.
- Exhibit a high level of proficiency in Excel, Word and PowerPoint, with strong attention to detail when handling and manipulating datasets, preparing documentation, slides and reports.
- Be a collaborative team player, capable of supporting and leading a cohesive team while also proactively completing individual tasks.
Desirable:
- Have experience working in a major project environment, including familiarity with the commercial, project management, technical and engineering, estimating and planning disciplines.
- Demonstrate experience in defining and delivering risk management plans within projects.
- Possess experience delivering risk management throughout the project lifecycle, demonstrating commercial awareness of best practices and processes and how they relate to risk management.
- Be fully competent in applying Quantitative Risk Analysis (QRA) techniques and tools, including software such as PRA, @Risk, and Safran Risk.
- Have experience with managing risks within a risk database tool, such as ARM and Xactium.
- Be a member of the Institute of Risk Management or hold the Association for Project Management Risk Practitioner certification.
- Hold a degree in a relevant technical or management field or have equivalent experience in a risk delivery role for major capital or infrastructure projects.
