About the Role
HH Talent is seeking a proactive, highly skilled Senior Cybersecurity Engineer to join our growing information security practice in London. In this essential role, you will take full ownership of enterprise security posture, threat detection networks, vulnerability management, and cloud infrastructure defense to protect our systems, client data, and digital assets.
Working alongside Infrastructure, DevOps, Software Engineering, and Compliance teams, you will lead security engineering initiatives, architect Zero Trust controls, coordinate incident response operations, and embed security best practices throughout the SDLC. This position combines hands-on technical defense with strategic oversight, providing opportunities to mentor analysts and shape enterprise security policy.
Key Responsibilities
- Security Architecture & Infrastructure Defense: Design, deploy, and maintain robust security controls across public cloud (AWS/Azure) and hybrid environments, ensuring resilient perimeter, container, and endpoint security.
- Threat Detection & Incident Response: Lead threat hunting operations, security event analysis, and incident management workflows using modern SIEM/SOAR platforms (e.g., Microsoft Sentinel, Splunk) to minimize exposure.
- Vulnerability Management & Exposure Control: Direct automated vulnerability scanning, penetration testing remediations, and risk prioritization to harden servers, networks, and cloud workloads.
- Identity, Access & Zero Trust Architecture: Enforce Zero Trust architectural principles, robust Identity and Access Management (IAM), Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), and Privileged Access Management (PAM).
- DevSecOps Integration: Automate security testing (SAST/DAST, container scanning, dependency checks) directly into CI/CD delivery pipelines (GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps).
- Governance, Risk & Mentorship: Ensure continuous compliance with UK GDPR, ISO 27001, and Cyber Essentials Plus frameworks, conduct root-cause analysis post-incident, and mentor junior security analysts.
Skills & QualificationsEssential
- 5+ years of commercial experience in cybersecurity engineering, security operations (SOC), or cloud security architecture.
- Deep technical proficiency in core security disciplines: network security (firewalls, IDS/IPS, WAF), endpoint security (EDR/XDR), and IAM systems.
- Hands-on expertise securing enterprise cloud environments (AWS or Microsoft Azure) and containerized workloads (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Strong experience configuring and managing SIEM/SOAR platforms and execution of incident response playbooks.
- Scripting fluency in Python, PowerShell, or Bash to automate security operations and threat detection rules.
- Solid understanding of UK regulatory frameworks (UK GDPR) and security standards (ISO 27001, NIST, Cyber Essentials).
- Excellent communication skills, with a proven ability to convey complex technical risks to executive and non-technical stakeholders.
Desirable
- Relevant Professional Certifications: CISSP, CISM, CEH, CCSP, CompTIA Security+, or AWS Certified Security - Specialty.
- Hands-on DevSecOps experience embedding security tooling into modern CI/CD release pipelines.
- Knowledge of application security frameworks (OWASP Top 10) and secure code review practices.
- Prior background in technical leadership or leading incident response handling teams.

- 25 days annual leave plus UK bank holidays
- Enhanced pension scheme (up to 8% company match)
- Private medical and dental insurance

- Cycle to Work scheme & Electric Vehicle (EV) salary sacrifice scheme
