Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Primary Teaching Assistant to support classroom teachers and enhance the learning experience of pupils. The successful candidate will play a vital role in fostering an inclusive environment, assisting with lesson delivery, and providing personalised support to students, including those with disabilities and autism.
Duties
- Assist the classroom teacher in delivering engaging and effective lessons tailored to pupils’ individual needs
- Support children with special educational needs, including those with autism and other disabilities, ensuring they are fully integrated into classroom activities
- Provide one-on-one tutoring and mentoring to pupils requiring additional help
- Help organise learning materials and resources to facilitate smooth lesson flow
- Support behaviour management strategies to maintain a positive learning environment
- Encourage participation and confidence among pupils through personalised support and encouragement
- Supervise children during breaks, lunchtimes, and organised activities to ensure safety and well-being
- Assist in the preparation of classroom activities and educational resources as needed
Skills
- Experience or specialised training in special education or working with individuals with disabilities is highly desirable
- Proven ability to work effectively with children across different age groups
- Strong communication skills to liaise effectively with pupils, teachers, parents, and colleagues
- Experience in tutoring or mentoring pupils, particularly those with autism or additional learning needs
- Patience, empathy, and a nurturing approach to support diverse learners’ development
- Ability to adapt teaching strategies to meet individual pupil requirements
- Organised and proactive attitude towards supporting classroom activities and behaviour management
