Purpose

As a Chef at Taurus you will produce creative and innovative food in a fast-paced café environment while being financially aware and able to manage a budget.
You will have an outgoing and enthusiastic manner with the ability to liaise and interact with customers and colleagues, and work with and support a mixed ability team.

This role will be based at Taurus Crafts in Lydney.
Duties & Responsibilities
Main responsibilities:

Work with a team of chefs with varying abilities and interests.
-
Input into managing a rota system for the kitchen team.

Ensure the highest quality of food production and presentation is maintained from you and your team at all times.

Ability to understand and produce exemplar compliance documents with a strong emphasis on ‘Safer Food, Better Business’.

Be a part of creating seasonal, appealing and profitable menus as required.
-
Follow food health, safety and hygiene guidelines at all times.
-
To communicate with front of house and line management for smooth running of the kitchen, allowing for the best customer experience at all times.

Facilitate additional food outlets onsite and for external events where required to do so.

Comply with the Trust’s policies and procedures, including safeguarding, equality & diversity and data protection.

Comply with the statutory provisions of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.

Qualifications
Essential
-
Good standard of education (GCSE Maths and English or equivalent to).

Computer literacy.

Level 2 Diploma in Professional Cookery.

Knowledge & Experience
Essential

At least 2 years’ experience working within a busy kitchen environment.

Ability to demonstrate proficient preparation and cooking skills.

Knowledge and respect of quality, locally sourced produce.

Ability to contribute towards the required gross profit margins.
