We’re looking for a Games Marketing Manager to take ownership of the day-to-day marketing and community activity surrounding our games.
This is a hands-on role.
We don't want someone who simply creates marketing strategies and passes them to somebody else to execute. We want someone who can develop a plan, create the content, communicate with players, contact creators, analyse what works and continuously improve what we're doing.
You'll work directly alongside our development teams, helping us build audiences around our games throughout development, launch and beyond.
The role has five core areas:
1. Social Media & Content
2. Steam Community & Communication
3. Discord & Community Management
4. Influencer & Creator Outreach
5. Pre-Launch Marketing & Steam Wishlists
Our objective is to create a consistent marketing engine around our games rather than relying on short bursts of marketing immediately before release.
By the time one of our games launches, we want an audience already waiting for it.
What You'll Be Doing
1. Social Media & Content
You'll take ownership of our social channels and help us grow audiences around our games and studios.
You'll create regular content across platforms such as TikTok, YouTube, X, Instagram and other relevant channels.
Responsibilities will include:
- Creating and scheduling regular social media content.
- Capturing gameplay footage and screenshots.
- Creating and editing short-form gameplay videos.
- Turning development progress into interesting, shareable content.
- Creating posts around new features, updates, milestones and launches.
- Producing behind-the-scenes development content.
- Experimenting with different formats, hooks and ideas.
- Identifying opportunities to create reactive or trend-driven content where appropriate.
- Maintaining a consistent content calendar.
- Engaging with comments and players.
- Tracking views, reach, engagement and audience growth.
- Using performance data to improve future content.
We're looking for someone who can look at something happening during development and immediately think:
"There's a post in that."
2. Steam Community & Communication
Steam is one of our most important communication channels.
You'll take responsibility for maintaining consistent communication with players across our Steam communities.
You'll:
- Write and publish Steam announcements.
- Produce development updates.
- Create feature showcases.
- Communicate patches and major updates.
- Create announcements around new content.
- Maintain a regular communication schedule.
- Coordinate Steam events and announcements.
- Work with developers to gather screenshots, GIFs, gameplay clips and information.
- Monitor player responses to announcements.
- Identify useful player feedback and sentiment.
- Help reactivate communities around existing games when significant updates are released.
- Coordinate Steam communication with our wider marketing campaigns.
Strong written communication is important.
You should be comfortable taking relatively technical information from a developer and turning it into something players will actually want to read.
3. Discord & Community Management
You'll help build and maintain active communities around our games.
We don't want our Discord servers to simply become announcement feeds.
We want them to be places where players can follow development, discuss our games, provide feedback and maintain a relationship with the studio.
You'll:
- Communicate regularly across our Discord communities.
- Post development updates, screenshots, GIFs and teasers.
- Announce updates, patches, playtests and releases.
- Start conversations and encourage community participation.
- Respond to player questions where appropriate.
- Direct support and technical issues to the appropriate team members.
- Gather player feedback and identify recurring themes.
- Report useful community sentiment back to the development team.
- Coordinate Discord communication with Steam and social campaigns.
- Help reactivate communities around existing games.
- Organise polls, playtests, feedback sessions and community activities where appropriate.
- Identify highly engaged players and community advocates.
We want someone who genuinely enjoys talking to players rather than viewing community management as another box that needs ticking.
4. Influencer & Creator Outreach
You'll build relationships with creators who are a good fit for our games.
This includes YouTubers, Twitch streamers, TikTok creators and other relevant gaming content creators.
You'll:
- Research creators relevant to each of our games.
- Build and maintain an organised creator database.
- Identify creators who have previously covered our games.
- Contact creators around launches, demos and major updates.
- Re-engage previous creators when games receive significant new content.
- Distribute keys, builds, trailers, screenshots and supporting materials.
- Create effective outreach messages.
- Follow up with creators.
- Maintain relationships rather than relying entirely on one-off outreach.
- Track responses and resulting coverage.
- Track views and audience reach generated through creator coverage.
- Identify emerging creators who could be a good fit for our games.
- Coordinate creator outreach with wider marketing campaigns.
We're not interested in simply sending thousands of generic emails.
We'd rather build a strong network of creators who genuinely enjoy the types of games we're making and are interested in hearing from us again.
5. Pre-Launch Marketing & Steam Wishlists
You'll help develop and execute marketing strategies for our upcoming games.
Marketing shouldn't begin a few weeks before release.
You'll work alongside development throughout production to build an audience while the game is being built.
You'll:
- Develop marketing plans for upcoming games.
- Identify the likely audience for each game.
- Develop strategies for reaching those players.
- Create marketing calendars from announcement through to launch.
- Develop strategies specifically focused on increasing Steam wishlists.
- Track wishlist growth throughout development.
- Identify which marketing activities are producing results.
- Plan game announcements and reveals.
- Coordinate gameplay reveals and trailers.
- Plan demo releases and playtests.
- Build campaigns around major development milestones.
- Coordinate Steam, Discord, social media and creator activity.
- Identify relevant Steam festivals and promotional opportunities.
- Prepare marketing activity around Steam Next Fest and similar events where appropriate.
- Develop launch-week marketing plans.
- Coordinate release-day communication.
- Continue marketing games after launch through updates, new content and community activity.
The objective is straightforward:
When one of our games launches, there should already be an audience waiting for it.
Performance-Based Compensation
This is deliberately a performance-focused role.
The position has a National Minimum Wage base salary alongside a significant performance bonus opportunity.
We want someone ambitious who is excited by the opportunity to directly benefit from the results they produce.
The better our marketing performs, the greater the opportunity to earn.
Performance targets will be agreed at the beginning of each contract period so you'll know what we're trying to achieve and how performance will be assessed.
Metrics may include:
- Steam wishlist growth.
- Social media views and reach.
- Social audience growth.
- Engagement.
- Performance of individual pieces of content.
- Creator outreach activity.
- Creator response rates.
- Creator coverage secured.
- Views and reach generated by creator coverage.
- Steam announcement performance.
- Discord engagement and active participation.
- Demo downloads.
- Playtest participation.
- Marketing campaign performance.
- Achievement of agreed pre-launch milestones.
- Successful execution of launch campaigns.
We understand that marketing results aren't always attributable to one person or one activity.
Performance will therefore be assessed across a combination of output, growth, execution and measurable results rather than being based on a single metric.
Most importantly, the bonus isn't intended to be a token incentive.
Exceptional performance should result in exceptional earning potential.
Contract & Progression
We're initially offering this position as a 3-month fixed-term contract.
We want to build this role into a long-term position, while giving both sides the opportunity to establish whether it's the right fit.
Our intended progression is:
Months 1–3 — Initial Contract
You'll learn our games, establish our marketing processes, build our content schedule, organise our creator outreach, improve our community communication and begin implementing marketing plans for upcoming releases.
At the end of the three months we'll review performance against the objectives agreed at the beginning of the contract.
Months 4–6 — Second 3-Month Contract
Following a successful review, our intention is to offer a further 3-month contract.
You'll take greater ownership of our marketing activity and we'll establish a new set of objectives.
Months 7–12 — 6-Month Contract
Following another successful review, our intention is to offer a further 6-month contract with increased responsibility and earning potential.
12 Months+ — Permanent Position
Our ultimate objective is to transition the successful candidate into a permanent position within the company.
Extensions and permanent employment will be subject to performance, business requirements and mutual agreement.
Who We're Looking For
We're deliberately keeping the required experience relatively open.
You might already work in games marketing.
You might run social media accounts.
You might be a content creator.
You might manage gaming communities.
You might have built your own gaming TikTok or YouTube channel.
Or you might simply be early in your marketing career and looking for an opportunity where you can demonstrate what you're capable of.
Ideally, you'll:
- Have a genuine interest in PC and indie games.
- Understand gaming culture and online communities.
- Understand Steam and how PC players discover games.
- Understand platforms such as TikTok, YouTube, Twitch, X and Instagram.
- Be a strong written communicator.
- Be comfortable talking directly with players.
- Be confident approaching creators.
- Have basic video editing skills.
- Be comfortable capturing gameplay footage and screenshots.
- Understand what makes gaming content interesting and shareable.
- Be organised.
- Be capable of managing several games and campaigns simultaneously.
- Be comfortable working independently.
- Be proactive rather than waiting to be given tasks.
- Be willing to experiment with new ideas.
- Be interested in understanding why something performed well or poorly.
- Be commercially minded and understand that ultimately we're trying to turn attention into wishlists, players and sales.
Games industry experience is useful, but it isn't essential.
Evidence that you can actually create, communicate, grow an audience or get people's attention is more valuable to us than having the perfect CV.
What Success Looks Like
After the first few months, we want to see a noticeable difference in how consistently our games are being marketed.
That means:
- Our social channels are active and growing.
- Content is being produced consistently.
- Our Steam communities receive regular, high-quality updates.
- Our Discord communities are active and engaged.
- We have an organised and growing network of creators.
- Creators are regularly being contacted about our games.
- Marketing campaigns are planned rather than improvised at the last minute.
- Upcoming games are steadily building Steam wishlists.
- Existing games receive renewed marketing when significant updates are released.
- We understand what's working because results are being tracked.
- Developers can concentrate on development knowing somebody is actively thinking about how we're going to reach players.
Ultimately, we're looking for someone who looks at one of our games and constantly asks:
Who is going to play this?
How do we reach them?
What can we show them today?
How do we turn that attention into a wishlist?
How do we keep those players interested until launch?
Which creators should know about this game?
And, most importantly:
What can I do today to move those numbers?
How to Apply
Send us your CV along with examples of anything that demonstrates what you can do.
That could include:
- Social media accounts you've managed.
- TikToks, Shorts or videos you've created.
- Gaming communities you've managed.
- Discord communities you've worked with.
- Games you've marketed.
- Steam announcements you've written.
- Influencer campaigns you've worked on.
- Your own YouTube, TikTok or Twitch channel.
- A portfolio.
- Personal projects.
Don't worry if you don't have years of professional games marketing experience.
We're far more interested in seeing what you've actually created, grown or achieved.
If you're ambitious, understand games and believe you can build an audience around something worth playing, we'd like to hear from you.
