As we continue to grow, we are looking for an enthusiastic and customer-focused Sales Representative to strengthen existing customer relationships and identify new opportunities for profitable growth.
The Role
The Sales Representative will be responsible for developing and maintaining strong relationships with existing customers while identifying and securing new business opportunities. The role combines account management with business development, ensuring customers receive outstanding service while maximising sales growth and profitability.
This is a customer-facing position that requires strong communication skills, commercial awareness, and a proactive approach to building long-term partnerships.
Whilst ultimately accountable to the Directors, the successful candidate will report to the Head of Sales, who will provide guidance, training and support on a day-to-day basis.
Working hours are 5 days a week, 9am-5pm Mon-Sat. It is expected that the successful candidate will work one Saturday in every three, with a corresponding day off during the week.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Relationship Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing customers across the on-trade and off-trade sectors.
- Conduct regular customer visits and reviews to understand customer needs and identify opportunities to add value.
- Act as a trusted advisor, providing product knowledge, market insights, and recommendations.
- Ensure customer issues, queries, and opportunities are addressed promptly and professionally.
- Work closely with internal teams to deliver excellent customer service and maintain high levels of customer satisfaction.
Business Development
- Identify and develop profitable sales opportunities within existing customer accounts.
- Prospect for and secure new customers within the designated territory.
- Develop and execute plans to grow sales volume, revenue, and margin.
- Promote the company's full product portfolio, including new products, seasonal ranges, and promotional offers.
- Build a pipeline of prospective customers and manage opportunities through to successful conversion.
Commercial Management
- Negotiate pricing and trading agreements within company guidelines.
- Monitor sales performance, customer profitability, and market trends.
- Maintain accurate customer records and activity reports using the company's CRM system.
- Work closely with the finance team to maintain strong account management practices, minimise credit risk, and take responsibility for ensuring customer accounts adhere to agreed payment terms and assist with the timely collection of outstanding debts.
Skills and Experience
Essential
- Proven experience in sales, account management, or business development.
- Strong relationship-building and customer service skills.
- Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
- Self-motivated, organised, and results-driven.
- Commercially aware with the ability to identify profitable growth opportunities.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable
- Experience within the drinks, hospitality, FMCG, wholesale, or foodservice sectors.
- Knowledge of beers, wines, spirits, soft drinks, and associated market trends.
- Experience using CRM systems.
- Established network within the hospitality or licensed trade sectors.
