Maintenance Operative – Kingsfield Care Home, Barrow-in-Furness

Kingsfield Care Home is a welcoming 27-bedroom home in Barrow-in-Furness, set within a converted older property and located just a short drive from the town centre. We are looking for an experienced Maintenance Operative to maintain the home’s premises, equipment and accommodation to a safe, serviceable and welcoming standard.
Hours: 30 hours per week. Shifts are 8.00am to 2.00pm.
Salary: £12.75 per hour
Key Responsibilities
- To undertake planned preventative maintenance and audit schedule.
- To ensure all areas of the home are in a good safe condition for residents, staff and visitors.
- To ensure all areas of the home are aesthetically pleasing by undertaking painting and decorating; and performing general maintenance tasks.
- To undertake fire safety, water hygiene, legionella, gas, electricity checks to ensure all are in good working order, liaising with the registered manager for any remedial works required.
- Work with contractors to ensure gardens, grounds and external areas are safe, tidy and presentable.
- Use digital systems and approved devices for auditing, recording and monitoring.
About You
We are looking for someone who:
- Has previous experience in a similar maintenance role
- Enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check (we will cover the cost)
- Strong attention to detail and a keen eye for aesthetics
- Ability to perform physical tasks and work at heights
- Good communication skills and the ability to work well in a team
- A proactive and problem-solving attitude
