Lilac Street is recruiting on behalf of a well-known hospitality and leisure business for an experienced Assistant Manager to join their Reading location.

The Role
Supporting the General Manager, you'll play a key role in the day-to-day operation of a busy, customer-focused venue. You'll inspire and develop your team, drive performance and ensure every guest enjoys an outstanding experience.
This is a hands-on leadership role where no two days are the same.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, coach and motivate a high-performing team.

- Deliver an exceptional customer experience at every opportunity.
- Support the delivery of business objectives, KPIs and commercial targets.
- Analyse trading performance and identify opportunities to improve results.
- Plan staffing levels to meet customer demand while managing payroll costs.
- Recruit, train and develop new team members.
- Conduct performance reviews and provide regular coaching and feedback.
- Recognise and develop talent within the business.
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety, company policies and operational standards.
- Support stock control, audits, maintenance and daily operational procedures.
- Work closely with the General Manager to maximise business performance.
About You
You'll be an enthusiastic and commercially aware leader with experience managing teams in a fast-paced customer environment.
You'll ideally have:
- Management or supervisory experience within hospitality, leisure or retail.
- A passion for delivering outstanding customer service.
- Strong leadership and people development skills.
- Excellent communication and organisational abilities.
- Commercial awareness and confidence working towards KPIs and targets.
- Experience managing rotas, payroll and staffing levels.
- Confidence using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- A proactive, positive and hands-on management style.
