A little about us
Caffi Chwarae is a brand-new café and play space opening in Abercynon.
We’re creating somewhere families can come for really good coffee and food, a warm welcome, and thoughtfully designed play for little ones.
We want it to feel relaxed, friendly and easy – somewhere parents actually want to spend time, not just somewhere they take the kids.
And we’re looking for lovely people to help us make it happen.
The role
As a Café & Play Team Member, you’ll be part of the team keeping Caffi Chwarae running smoothly day to day.
You’ll make drinks, serve food, welcome families, keep the café and play areas looking their best and generally get stuck in wherever you’re needed.
It’s a hands-on role in a busy family environment, so we’re looking for someone friendly, reliable and happy to work as part of a small team.
A typical shift might include:
- Welcoming customers and helping them feel at home
- Taking orders and using the till
- Preparing and serving hot and cold drinks
- Serving food and keeping tables cleared
- Helping keep the café clean, tidy and well stocked
- Keeping an eye on the play areas and making sure they're clean, safe and ready for the next little visitors
- Resetting toys and play spaces throughout the day
- Helping with opening and closing jobs
- Supporting the rest of the team when things get busy
- Delivering genuinely lovely customer service
Who we're looking for
You don’t need to be loud or super outgoing, but you do need to be warm, approachable and comfortable chatting to people.
We’d love someone who:
- Has previous café or hospitality experience
- Is friendly and confident with customers
- Is reliable and hardworking
- Has a positive, can-do attitude
- Notices what needs doing and gets on with it
- Works well as part of a small team
- Stays calm when things get busy
- Understands that keeping things clean and tidy is a big part of the job
- Is comfortable working in a busy environment with babies and young children
- Genuinely enjoys creating a welcoming experience for families
Barista experience would be a big plus, but full training can be provided.
The practical bits
Our busiest times will naturally include weekends and school holidays, so weekend availability is essential.
You’ll also need to be flexible enough to help across the café rather than sticking to one job. One minute you might be making a coffee, the next clearing a table, resetting the play area or welcoming a family through the door.
