About the Role
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Assistant Accountant Apprentice to join our finance team. This is an exciting opportunity to develop practical accounting skills while working towards a recognised Level 3 qualification with an approved training provider.
Key Responsibilities
As an Assistant Accountant Apprentice, your responsibilities will include:
- Process supplier invoices accurately and in a timely manner.
- Ensure invoices are correctly coded and authorised in line with company procedures.
- Support processing of subcontractor invoices ensuring CIS compliance.
- Raise customer invoices ensuring compliance with VAT and CIS regulations.
- Issue monthly customer statements.
- Monitor outstanding balances and assist in debt control where required.
- Allocate credit card transactions and bank receipts/payments.
- Process company expense claims in accordance with internal policies.
- Assist with bank reconciliations.
- Assist with payroll processing and related administration tasks.
- Support monthly reconciliation of accounts.
- Assist with monthly invoice and expenditure reviews.
- Conduct basic job cost analysis and investigate jobs operating below target profit margins.
- Assist in preparing quarterly financial reports for Directors.
- Support finance forecasting and budget analysis activities.
- Provide financial information to HR to support KPI reporting.
- Assist the Finance Director with VAT submissions and Corporation Tax preparation.
- Ensure financial processing complies with relevant tax regulations.
- Assist in preparing year-end financial accounts.
- Support closure procedures and audit requirements.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Apprenticeship entry requirements - GCSE English and Maths (grade 5 or above)
