To assist with the effective management and progression of litigation matters, providing professional and efficient support to clients and the Litigation Department. The role involves managing an allocated caseload, preparing legal documentation, liaising with clients and third parties, monitoring deadlines and ensuring matters are progressed in accordance with the Firm’s procedures and professional standards.
The role will be carried out within the individual’s appropriate level of qualification, experience and authority, with supervision and guidance provided where required.
Key ResponsibilitiesCase Management
- Manage an allocated caseload of litigation matters under appropriate supervision.
- Take and record client instructions accurately.
- Review case documents and evidence and identify relevant issues requiring further action.
- Assist with assessing the factual and procedural aspects of matters.
- Progress cases efficiently and in accordance with agreed case strategies and instructions.
- Prepare and maintain accurate case chronologies and records.
- Draft routine correspondence, statements, applications, schedules and other litigation documents as appropriate.
- Conduct legal and procedural research where required for individual matters.
- Monitor limitation dates, court deadlines, hearings and other key dates.
- Ensure all required actions are followed up within appropriate timescales.
- Maintain complete and accurate case records on the Firm’s case management system.
Litigation and Procedural Work
- Assist with the preparation of matters for hearings, applications, conferences and trials.
- Prepare or assist with preparing hearing bundles and other documents required for hearings.
- Liaise with courts, tribunals, opposing representatives, counsel, experts and other relevant parties.
- Assist with complying with court directions, orders and procedural requirements.
- Escalate complex, high-risk or matters outside the individual’s authority to the appropriate supervisor.
Client Care
- Communicate with clients professionally and provide appropriate updates on the progress of their matters.
- Respond to client enquiries promptly and appropriately.
- Explain procedural matters and case developments clearly and within the scope of the role.
- Manage client expectations appropriately and escalate concerns where necessary.
- Maintain confidentiality and handle client information securely.
Compliance and Risk Management
- Comply with the Firm’s policies, procedures and professional standards.
- Comply with applicable SRA requirements and other relevant legal and regulatory obligations.
- Complete or assist with KYC, AML, client due diligence and other compliance requirements where applicable.
- Identify and promptly report potential conflicts, risks, complaints or compliance concerns.
- Follow supervisory instructions and seek guidance where a matter falls outside the individual’s knowledge, experience or authority.
- Ensure all work is completed accurately and to the required quality standard.
Financial and Administrative Responsibilities
- Record time accurately and promptly on the Firm’s case management system.
- Assist with billing, costs and financial administration of matters where required.
- Monitor outstanding actions and ensure matters are progressed efficiently.
- Maintain organised electronic and physical case files.
- Assist with file reviews and preparation of matters for closure.
Teamwork and Development
- Work effectively with solicitors, legal executives, paralegals and support staff.
- Assist colleagues with case-related matters where appropriate.
- Attend team meetings, training and professional development sessions.
- Maintain and develop legal and procedural knowledge relevant to the role.
- Work towards appropriate professional development and CILEX progression where applicable.
- Contribute positively to the efficiency and development of the Litigation Department.
Pay: £25,420.00-£35,000.00 per year
