About the Role
The James Mercer Group Ltd is an established, leading Building Services Contractor based in Preston Lancashire. We are looking for a proactive and organised HSQE Coordinator to support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of our health, safety, quality and environmental management systems. You will work closely with managers and employees to promote a positive safety culture, ensure compliance with UK legislation, and help maintain a safe working environment across the business.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate and maintain the company's Health & Safety Management System.
Conduct workplace inspections, audits, and risk assessments.
Assist with site surveys to assess site H&S requirements.
Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
Support managers in ensuring compliance with the Health and Safety at Work Act and associated regulations.
Ensure Environmental systems
Maintain health and safety records, and compliance documentation.
Monitor contractor compliance and site safety standards.
Assist with emergency planning, fire safety, and first aid arrangements.
Liaise with external auditors, regulatory bodies, and health and safety consultants when required.
Prepare reports, statistics, and recommendations for senior management.
Promote a positive health, safety, and wellbeing culture throughout the organisation.
About You
You'll be an enthusiastic and detail-oriented individual with a passion for workplace safety and continuous improvement.
Essential:
NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent).
Previous experience in a Health & Safety role.
Good knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation.
Excellent organisational and communication skills.
Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
Ability to influence and build positive working relationships at all levels.
Full UK driving licence.
Have awareness and/or experience in Carbon Foot printing and construction related environmental topics.
Desirable:
IOSH Membership (TechIOSH or above).
Experience in the construction industry.
Mental Health First Aid or First Aid at Work qualification.
Pay: £33,000.00-£38,000.00 per year
