Role Overview
As a Mechanical Fitter, you will deliver mechanical support to our clients, including installation, repairs, servicing, and maintenance activities. You’ll work closely with electricians on the mechanical elements of projects and contribute to improving site assets through practical solutions and innovation.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide progress updates to management and raise any issues outside project scope
- Test mechanical systems and equipment using tools such as vibration sensors and infrared cameras
- Inspect systems to identify hazards, defects, or required repairs
- Assemble, install, test, and maintain mechanical equipment and fixtures using hand and power tools
- Carry out mechanical tasks including pump replacements, screen and pipework installation, alignments, valve fault-finding, and working from technical drawings
- Conduct planned preventative maintenance on pumping systems
- Maintain contractual response times and communicate updates to the site team
- Respond to emergency and shutdown works
- Complete Point of Work Risk Assessments
- Follow and understand all RAMS documentation
- Read and interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, and station layouts
About You – Requirements
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths
- Completed a modern engineering apprenticeship or equivalent qualification
- Experience in an engineering environment (preferred but not essential)
- CSCS card (or equivalent)
- EUSR Water & Sewage (preferred)
- PASMA, IPAF, confined space training, abrasive wheels (all desirable, not essential)
- Strong mechanical knowledge of pipework, screens, pumps, and motors
- Essential experience working in on-site engineering environments
- Hardworking, communicative, and conscientious
- Positive attitude with the ability to remain calm under pressure
- Self-motivated, able to work independently and as part of a team
