Job Summary
Afterschool Room Nursery Assistant
We are looking for a caring, enthusiastic, reliable, organised, energetic, and enjoys working as part of a team. The successful candidate will help provide a safe, happy and stimulating environment for children of Primary school age. You will support children's wellbeing, encourage positive relationships, supervise indoor and outdoor play, assist with homework where appropriate, and plan engaging activities that promote learning and development.
Responsibilities
- Plan fun and engaging and implement age- appropriate activities that promote learning, creativity and social skills.
- Understand children's needs and emotions. Support children's emotional wellbeing by providing comfort and reassurance if needed.
- Patience, show compassion and a nurturing attitute toward children's needs.
- Communicate regularly with parents regarding children's progress, behaviour and needs.
- Adhere to policies and procedures.
- Computer skills required and confidence using a computer.
- Support children with additional needs or disabilities by adapting activities, making sure their needs are met.
- Communicate effectively with children, parents, and colleagues to ensure a cohesive approach to childcare.
- Assist with daily routines such as meal times, and hygiene practices in accordance with nursery policies.
- Contribute to the planning and implementation of educational programmes aligned with early childhood education standards.
- Support management in maintaining compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Strong management skills to organise activities and maintain a structured environment.
- Leadership qualities to guide children positively and support team collaboration.
- Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
- Childcare qualifications or willing to complete a childcare qualification outside working hours that are required .
- Be willing to work across all nursery rooms as required to meet the needs of the nursery.
- Provide support and cover for colleagues during staff absences, holidays, and busy periods.
- Valid driving licence so you can help out with school drop offs and collections.
- A caring attitude, patience, organisational skills, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team are essential qualities.Requirements
- First Aid or willing to undertake training outside working hours that will benefit you in your new role.
- Level 2 or 3 qualification in childcare.
- Flexible and reliable
- Previous experience working with children
