We are a UK-based education and guardianship company providing personalised academic support to international students studying at leading independent schools across the UK. We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic GCSE English tutor to join our growing team.
Role
We are seeking a tutor who can deliver high-quality one-to-one online lessons in GCSE English Language and English Literature. Lessons are tailored to each student’s individual needs, helping them improve their confidence, knowledge and examination performance.
Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging one-to-one online GCSE English lessons.
- Teach both English Language and English Literature.
- Prepare lessons according to each student’s school curriculum and exam board.
- Help students develop analytical writing, comprehension and exam techniques.
- Set appropriate homework when required.
- Provide brief lesson feedback after each session.
Requirements
- Degree in English or a related subject.
- Previous experience teaching GCSE English (independent school or tutoring experience preferred).
- Familiarity with major UK exam boards (AQA, Edexcel, OCR, IGCSE/Cambridge International).
- Excellent communication skills.
- Reliable internet connection and confidence teaching online.
- Right to work in the UK (preferred).
Preferred Qualifications
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), PGCE, or equivalent teaching qualification.
- Experience teaching students whose first language is not English.
- Experience preparing students for GCSE examinations with strong results.
Working Hours
Flexible, depending on student availability.Most lessons take place:
- Weekday evenings (UK time)
- Weekends
- Additional holiday lessons may be available.
Pay
Competitive hourly rate, depending on qualifications and experience.
