Job Title: Multi skilled operative
Job Purpose
To provide a high-quality reactive repairs and maintenance service across occupied social housing properties and void properties. The postholder will undertake a wide range of trade activities, ensuring repairs are completed efficiently, safely and to a high standard while delivering excellent customer service within a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
Key Responsibilities

Carry out responsive and reactive repairs within occupied social housing properties.

Complete emergency call-out repairs within required response times.

Undertake maintenance and refurbishment works to void properties, bringing them up to lettable standards.

Deliver multi-skilled repairs across:

Carpentry

Plumbing

Tiling
-
Plastering
-
Bricklaying
-
Fencing
-
Flooring
-
Groundworks
-
Diagnose faults and identify effective repair solutions.

Ensure work is completed in accordance with health and safety regulations and company standards.

Maintain accurate records of completed repairs and materials used.

Work professionally and respectfully within tenants' homes, including challenging living environments.

Manage workload effectively to meet service delivery targets and timescales.

Operate and maintain company vehicles responsibly in line with company policies.
Experience Required
Essential
-
Minimum 3 years' proven trade experience within construction, maintenance or repairs.

Strong multi-trade capability across several of the disciplines listed above.

Previous experience working within occupied social housing environments.

Experience carrying out responsive/reactive maintenance repairs.
-
Ability to work independently and manage a varied workload.

Experience working within demanding, high-volume service environments.

Strong customer service and communication skills.
Desirable
-
Experience working on housing association or local authority contracts.
-
Previous void property refurbishment experience.
Qualifications
Essential
-
NVQ Level 2 or equivalent qualification in a relevant trade.

Full UK Driving Licence.

Good understanding of Health & Safety legislation and safe working practices.
Desirable

NVQ Level 3 in a relevant trade discipline.
-
CSCS Card.
-
Additional trade-specific certifications.
Additional Qualifications / Certifications
The following certifications would be advantageous:

Asbestos Awareness Certificate.

Manual Handling Certificate.

Working at Height Certificate.
-
PASMA and/or IPAF Certification.

Emergency First Aid at Work.

Social Housing Repairs and Maintenance experience.
-
Health & Safety qualifications such as IOSH Working Safely.

Any accredited qualifications in Carpentry, Plumbing, Plastering, Bricklaying, Flooring or Groundworks.
Additional Information
Location: Corby, Northamptonshire.
Pay Rate: £24.48 per hour (Umbrella).
Hours: 37.00 hours per week.
Company vehicle provided for work purposes only.
Vehicle usage is monitored for operational, lone-working, and health & safety purposes.
Face-to-face interview required.
Successful candidates must pass all compliance and vetting checks.
The service covers approximately 8,000 properties and garages, delivering around 1,500 reactive repairs per month.
Standard repairs are completed within 30 days, with emergency repairs attended within 24 hours.
Working hours are typically 8:00am to 4:00pm or 8:30am to 5:00pm, with a 3:30pm finish on Fridays.
Initial assignment for 12-15 weeks to cover sickness absence, with the possibility of extension.
Reliability and flexibility are essential to support operational requirements and maintain service delivery standards.
