We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Senior Care Assistant to join our team in a busy residential care home. The successful candidate will provide high-quality, person-centred care to residents throughout the night, ensuring their safety, comfort, and wellbeing at all times.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide compassionate personal care and support to residents
- Assist residents with mobility, toileting, continence care, and repositioning as required
- Administer and support with medication in line with care plans and company policies
- Carry out regular checks on residents and respond promptly to call bells and emergencies
- Maintain accurate and detailed care records, including medication administration records
- Support residents with their prefered routine and promote a calm, safe environment
- Delegate tasks appropriately and support junior staff on shift
- Communicate effectively with colleagues and hand over clearly to the day team
- Follow safeguarding, health and safety, and infection control procedures at all times
Skills and Experience Required:
- Proven experience working as a Senior Carer or Care Assistant in a care home setting
- Strong medication experience and understanding of safe medication practices
- Excellent organisational and delegation skills
- Ability to work independently and manage priorities during busy night shifts
- Calm, reliable, and professional approach, particularly in emergency situations
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- A caring, respectful, and person-centred attitude
Desirable:
- NVQ/QCF Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or willingness to work towards)
- Experience working in a fast-paced or high-dependency care environment
