Guardsman Security Group is looking for an experienced and reliable Self-Employed Landscape Gardener / Grounds Maintenance Contractor to provide ongoing grounds maintenance services across our commercial sites.
The workload will vary throughout the year depending on the season, with approximately 10–20 hours per week available.
This is a self-employed contractor position. Applicants must provide their own vehicle, tools, machinery and equipment required to complete the works.
Scope of Works
Grass Cutting
- Weekly from April to September
- associated off-site verges – Every two weeks from April to September
- off-site verges – Monthly from October to March
Rose Bush Maintenance
- Monthly from April to October
- Pruning, general maintenance and keeping planted areas presentable
Container Planting and Maintenance
- Weekly from April to September
- Monthly from October to March
- Seasonal planting, watering, feeding, pruning, deadheading and general maintenance as required
Gritting
- As required during appropriate weather conditions
- Site layouts and requirements will be provided
Requirements
Applicants must:
- Be registered as self-employed
- Have previous professional landscaping or grounds maintenance experience
- Provide all tools, equipment and machinery required to undertake the works
- Have their own suitable vehicle and transport
- Hold appropriate Public Liability Insurance
- Be able to work independently and manage their workload
- Be reliable and able to maintain the required service schedule
- Deliver work to a consistently high commercial standard
- Be able to provide relevant insurance certificates and contractor documentation
- Complete our approved contractor/supplier onboarding process
Pay and Working Hours
The rate for this contract is £22.50 per hour.
Hours are expected to range from approximately 10 to 20 hours per week, depending on the season and site requirements.
The position provides ongoing, year-round work, with increased grounds maintenance requirements during the spring and summer months and reduced hours during the winter.
There may also be opportunities for additional landscaping and grounds maintenance work as our requirements develop.

- This is a self-employed contractor position paying a fixed rate of £22.50 per hour. You will be responsible for providing your own vehicle, fuel, tools, machinery, equipment and Public Liability Insurance. The rate is £20.00 per hour and is not negotiable.
