Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Sports Coach to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging coaching sessions across a variety of sports, and year groups fostering teamwork, discipline, and skill development among participants. The role as a sports coach also refers to a behaviour mentor within our school as most of our coaches manage, challenge and coach pupil throughout many stages of their school life. The role also involves dealing with children who have been excluded from mainstream education who now attend our school as their final option to intergrate into society. This role offers an excellent opportunity to inspire individuals of all ages and skill levels while promoting healthy lifestyles and sporting excellence. The Sports Coach will contribute to creating a positive environment that encourages personal growth, confidence, and enjoyment through sport.
Duties
- Plan and deliver coaching sessions tailored to the age and ability of participants, ensuring a safe and inclusive environment.
- Demonstrate proper techniques and strategies for various sports, providing clear instructions and constructive feedback.
- Organise training drills, competitions, and activities that promote skill development and team spirit.
- Monitor participant progress, maintaining records of attendance and performance.
- Ensure all equipment is used safely and maintained in good condition.
- Foster a positive sporting environment by encouraging fair play, respect, and teamwork among participants.
- Liaise with parents, guardians, or organisers regarding participant progress or behavioural concerns.
- Uphold health and safety standards at all times during coaching sessions.
Skills
- Proven experience in sports coaching or teaching within a sporting environment.
- Strong knowledge of various sports techniques, rules, and safety procedures.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to motivate and inspire individuals of diverse ages and backgrounds.
- Organisation skills to plan engaging sessions that cater to different skill levels.
- Ability to work as part of a team while also demonstrating leadership qualities.
- Enthusiasm for sport and physical activity, with a commitment to promoting healthy lifestyles.
- Flexibility to adapt coaching methods based on participant needs and feedback.
