Are you looking for a dynamic and fulfilling role where you can make a difference and enrich the lives of children who have experienced domestic abuse? If so, we are looking for a fun and enthusiastic individual to join our amazing team working in our refuge.
The work is child led where we offer activities such as play, arts and crafts, games or anything else that a child may be interested in to facilitate exploration of feelings, emotions, worries and their own experience of domestic abuse.
We are looking for:
- experience and understanding of working with children affected by trauma

- passion for providing a safe space for vulnerable children

Your role will involve planning and delivering a range of high quality work with children that meets their needs, working closely with colleagues, the non-abusive parent, schools and other professionals to ensure the safety and well being of those we support. Developing a dialogue with children and their non-abusive parent in order to assess their needs, along with advocating and signposting are key to the role as is creating a warm, welcoming and inclusive environment. You will also support non-abusive parents to rebuild their confidence and parenting skills.
We offer a contributory pension scheme, 25 days holiday plus Bank Holidays (pro rata for part time employees), an employee assistance programme and high quality training and development. The working hours for this role are 10am to 5pm Monday to Friday as there is a need to be available to provide support after the children return home from school. We are unable to offer term-time only working for this role.
Applicants must be able to undertake occasional emergency on-call duties as part of a rota for which there is additional shift pay (rota shared between all frontline staff).
