The Sewing Studio is a family-run business and one of the UK’s leading specialist sewing machine and quilting fabric retailers. From our base in Redruth, Cornwall, what began as a local sewing machine shop has grown into a multimillion pound business trading internationally through our retail store and a thriving Shopify Plus online operation. We stock leading brands such as Brother, Janome, Bernina, PFAFF and Husqvarna. We’re a team of 18+ people who’ve grown consistently year on year and content is at the heart of our even more ambitious plans ahead.
The role (please read carefully, this is an onsite roll in Redruth Cornwall UK, experience in the following is essential):
We’re looking for a hard working creative all-rounder to own our visual content from start to finish. You’ll plan, shoot and edit videos for our YouTube channel, photograph our products, create content for our social media channels and produce graphic design work across the business. One day you might be filming a sewing machine review, the next shooting fabric for the website or designing graphics for a campaign so a fast turn around is essential.
This is a hands-on role for someone who can take an idea from concept through to a polished, published piece of content and who takes pride in the quality of what they put out.
What you’ll be doing:
- Planning and filming videos for our YouTube channel – product reviews, tutorials, demonstrations and promotional content, most often with a multicamera setup.
- Editing those videos to a high standard, including titles, graphics, sound and colour
- Product photography for our website and marketing – sewing machines, fabrics and accessories – including styling, lighting and retouching
- Creating social media content across our channels: short-form video, photography, editing and scheduling
- Graphic design for web banners, email campaigns, social posts and in-store materials etc
- Keeping our visual style consistent across everything we publish
- Managing your own shoot schedule, equipment and content pipeline
What we’re looking for:
- Proven experience producing and editing video content, ideally for YouTube or a brand channel – a portfolio or showreel is essential
- Confident behind a camera for both video and stills, including lighting and studio setup
- Strong editing skills in software such as Premiere Pro etc
- Photo editing and retouching skills in Photoshop etc
- Graphic design ability using tools such as Illustrator etc
- Most of the Adobe Suit.
- A good understanding of what works on YouTube, Instagram, Facebook and TikTok
- Well organised and self-motivated – able to juggle multiple projects and deliver to deadlines
- A keen eye for detail and a genuine interest in making things look great
Nice to have
- An interest in sewing, quilting or crafts (or a willingness to learn – we’ll happily teach you!)
- Experience with e-commerce or retail content
- Graphic design.
- Experience presenting on camera or directing presenters
The details
- Location: Our studio in Redruth, Cornwall. Filming and photography are on-site.
- Hours: We’re open to full-time, part-time or freelance arrangements for the right person however 3+ full days a week would be minimum.
- Salary: Negotiable depending on experience.
