Job Overview
We are seeking a proactive and experienced Grounds Maintenance Team Leader to oversee and coordinate landscaping and maintenance activities across our client sites. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, technical knowledge in horticulture and construction, and a passion for maintaining high standards of outdoor environments. This role involves supervising a team, ensuring safety compliance, and delivering quality grounds care in a timely manner.
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise the grounds maintenance team to ensure efficient completion of landscaping, gardening, and construction tasks.
- Oversee the utilisation of hand tools, power tools, excavators, and irrigation systems to maintain outdoor spaces.
- Plan and organise daily work schedules, allocating tasks according to priority and team capability.
- Conduct routine inspections of grounds to identify maintenance needs and ensure adherence to safety standards.
- Perform or oversee specialised tasks such as horticultural pruning, planting, fertilising, and soil management.
- Coordinate with external contractors for specialised projects involving construction or major landscaping works.
- Maintain equipment through regular checks and basic mechanical repairs to minimise downtime.
- Ensure all work complies with environmental regulations and health & safety policies.
- Must have a clean manual driving license and able to drive a company vehicle
Skills
- Proven experience in landscape maintenance, gardening, or horticulture.
- Strong mechanical knowledge related to the operation and maintenance of power tools, irrigation systems, and excavators.
- Ability to operate hand tools safely and efficiently.
- Knowledge of construction processes relevant to outdoor environments.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to lead a team effectively.
- Good communication skills for coordinating with team members and external stakeholders.
- Physical fitness suitable for outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
