Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Head Chef to lead our culinary team. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive culinary expertise, and a commitment to delivering exceptional dining experiences. This role involves overseeing all aspects of kitchen operations, ensuring food quality, safety standards, and fostering a positive team environment. The Head Chef will play a pivotal role in menu development, staff management, and maintaining the highest standards of hospitality.
Duties
- Lead and supervise the kitchen team to ensure efficient and smooth operations
- Oversee food production, preparation, and presentation to meet quality standards
- Follow budgets to stay within weekly P&L
- Manage food safety protocols in compliance with health regulations
- Coordinate with suppliers to ensure the timely procurement of ingredients and kitchen supplies
- Monitor stock levels and control wastage to optimise resources
- Provide training and mentorship to junior kitchen staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement
- Ensure cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen environment at all times
- Assist in serving customers during peak times to maintain excellent service standards
- Maintain a positive working environment that promotes teamwork and professional growth
Requirements
- Proven supervising experience within a busy restaurant or hospitality setting
- Extensive culinary experience with a strong background in food production and food preparation
- Demonstrable team management skills with the ability to lead and motivate staff effectively
- Solid knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in hygiene standards
- Previous experience working in restaurant environments with a focus on high-quality service
- Strong cooking skills across various cuisines and techniques
- Excellent leadership qualities paired with organisational skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently under pressure
- Good communication skills with a customer-focused approach
- Experience in hospitality or serving roles is advantageous but not essential
