We are looking for a motivated Machine Shop Operative to join our manufacturing team. This is a practical, hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys working with machinery, takes pride in doing a job properly and wants the opportunity to develop a long-term career in manufacturing.
The opportunity
You will initially be trained to operate the sheet material press and wide belt sander. As your skills and confidence develop, you may receive training on the edge bander, CNC loading and CNC operation. You will work closely with the Machine Shop Supervisor and the wider production team to ensure materials and components are prepared safely, accurately and on time.
What you will be doing
- Operating the sheet material press safely and correctly.
- Operating the wide belt sander and checking the finish of materials.
- Checking materials before, during and after machining.
- Reading job information and following production instructions.
- Identifying defects, damage or incorrect materials before they move to the next stage.
- Maintaining a clean, organised and safe working area.
- Supporting colleagues and helping the department meet production priorities.
- Reporting machine faults, quality concerns or safety issues immediately.

Previous experience in manufacturing, woodworking or joinery is useful but not essential. Full training will be provided for the right person.
