Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced and passionate Deputy Nursery Manager to join our friendly and dedicated team in Belvedere (DA17).
The successful candidate will be an experienced early years professional who has progressed from Room Leader into a Deputy Manager role and has a strong understanding of the day-to-day running of a busy day nursery.
You must have a minimum of 5 years’ experience working within a day nursery, with proven experience supporting the management of a setting. SEN experience and DSL (Designated Safeguarding Lead) experience are essential for this position.

Responsibilities
- Support the Nursery Manager with the effective day-to-day management of the nursery.
- Take responsibility for the nursery in the Manager’s absence.
- Lead, support and motivate the nursery team, ensuring high standards of practice are maintained.
- Provide effective leadership and guidance to Room Leaders and practitioners.
- Support the planning and delivery of high-quality learning and development opportunities in line with the EYFS.
- Ensure children receive a high standard of care, education and support in a safe, stimulating and inclusive environment.
- Take an active role in safeguarding and child protection, including fulfilling DSL responsibilities.
- Support children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and work closely with colleagues, parents and external professionals where required.
- Monitor and support staff performance, development and training.
- Maintain strong relationships with children, parents, carers and professionals.
- Ensure policies, procedures and regulatory requirements are consistently followed.
- Support inspections, audits and quality improvement processes.
- Assist with staff deployment, rotas, meetings and the smooth running of the nursery.
- Promote a positive, professional and inclusive nursery environment.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years experience working in a day nursery.
- Proven experience working as a Deputy Nursery Manager.
- Demonstrable career progression from Room Leader to Deputy Manager.
- SEN experience.
- DSL / Designated Safeguarding Lead experience.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of the EYFS and safeguarding requirements.
- Excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to lead and motivate a team effectively.
- Confident dealing with parents, carers, professionals and external agencies.
- A genuine passion for supporting children’s learning, development and wellbeing.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage the demands of a busy nursery environment.
- Relevant Level 3 Early Years qualification or above.
- A strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
Pay: £30,000.00-£32,000.00 per year
