About the School
We are working closely with a welcoming and well-established special school in Chippenham that is looking to appoint several dedicated SEND Learning Support Assistants for September.
The school supports pupils aged 4–16 with a wide range of additional needs, including:
- Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD)
- Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD)
- Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD)
- Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
- Complex Needs
This is a caring, close-knit school community where staff are passionate about making a meaningful difference to the lives of their pupils. Due to continued staffing requirements, the school currently has a number of opportunities available across different classes.
The Role
As a SEND Learning Support Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting students both within the classroom and on a 1:1 basis. You will work closely with teaching staff to help pupils access learning, develop independence, and achieve their individual goals.
The school is able to offer some flexibility regarding class placement, depending on your experience and strengths. However, all positions are full-time, as consistency and routine are essential for the students.
The Ideal Candidate
To be considered for this role, you must:
- Have previous experience supporting children or young people with SEND, either within a school, care, or support work setting
- Be confident supporting pupils with a range of additional needs
- Feel comfortable assisting with physical needs and personal care where required
- Be patient, adaptable, and committed to helping every child reach their potential
- Be able to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and families
