The Role
Working primarily evenings and weekends, the Lab Host role is quite unique! It’s a blend of hospitality, retail and teaching. A typical day as a Lab Host can be quite varied but might look something like this…
At the start of the day, you could be helping guests in the shop; topping up stock, offering small, guided tastings, and giving advice about our products.
Then it’s time to set up the classroom for teaching; whether that’s a make your own gin class, gin history, or a cocktail making session, they all have different set up requirements and will involve things like measuring out gin, picking fresh herbs for garnishes, and arranging the table and chair set up. An eye for detail and high cleanliness standards is a must!
Next, it’s time to teach! Don’t worry, we offer full in-house training to give you the confidence to host our different experiences. Every class is laid-back and fun but also hands-on and informative. After the class is finished, you might spend some time preparing any orders that your class wish to purchase, along with guiding them through our other products, and ensuring that they leave happy.
Then it’s time to clear down; you’ll ensure all glassware and equipment are washed, polished, and reset for the next class, and after that you can expect to be helping customers in the shop, putting small deliveries away, replenishing stock, and organising or preparing for large parties and/or busy days.
Occasionally, there may be a requirement to assist our wonderful production team with bottling and labelling over in Grantchester.
