Overview
We are a well-established precision engineering subcontract manufacturer looking for a hands-on Inspection Engineer to join our team.
This is not a paperwork-driven quality role. We are looking for someone who enjoys working directly with components, and taking ownership of inspection processes using CMM and conventional metrology equipment.
You will play a key role in ensuring high-precision machined parts meet strict customer and industry requirements.
The Role
- Carry out first-off, in-process, and final inspection of precision machined components
- Operate and program CMM machines
- Perform detailed inspection using manual and optical equipment (shadowgraph, surface testing, etc.)
- Interpret complex engineering drawings and GD&T
- Complete FAIRs and inspection reports where required
- Work closely with production to resolve issues and maintain quality standards
- Support problem-solving and continuous improvement activities
What We’re Looking For
- Strong hands-on inspection experience within precision machining
- Proven ability using CMM (programming preferred)
- Experience inspecting tight tolerance CNC milled & turned components
- Confident reading engineering drawings and GD&T
- High attention to detail and a proactive mindset
- Experience with FAIRs and structured inspection reporting
Desirable (but not essential)
- Background in subcontract manufacturing environments
- Understanding of CNC machining processes

- Monday-Thursday (7am-4pm) (alternative hours can be discussed)
- Friday (6am-1pm)
