Spray Painter – Structural Steel

We are looking for an experienced Spray Painter to join our busy structural steel fabrication workshop.
The role will involve preparing and spray painting fabricated structural steelwork ready for delivery to construction sites. We are looking for someone who can work efficiently, maintain a good quality finish and keep up with the demands of a busy fabrication environment.
Main Duties
- Preparing structural steelwork prior to painting, including cleaning, degreasing and removing surface contamination.
- Spray painting fabricated steelwork using industrial paint systems.
- Mixing and preparing paints in accordance with manufacturer requirements.
- Applying primers, protective coatings and finishing coats as required.
- Ensuring the correct coating thickness and coverage is achieved.
- Touching up damaged or missed areas where necessary.
- Masking areas that are not to be painted.
- Carrying out visual checks on completed steelwork before it leaves the workshop.
- Keeping the spray/painting area clean, organised and safe.
- Cleaning and maintaining spray guns, hoses and associated painting equipment.
- Working alongside our fabrication and production teams to ensure steelwork is completed in line with delivery dates.
- Following company health & safety procedures and correctly using the required PPE.
Experience & Skills
Previous industrial spray-painting experience is preferred, particularly within structural steel, fabrication, engineering or a similar environment.
The successful candidate should:
- Have experience using industrial airless spray equipment.
- Understand basic surface preparation and paint application.
- Be able to achieve a consistent, good-quality finish.
- Have good attention to detail.
- Be reliable and able to work as part of a busy workshop team.
- Be able to work independently once instructed.
- Understand the importance of working safely with paints, coatings and associated equipment.
Experience with structural steelwork and protective coating systems would be particularly advantageous.

Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:30am – 4:00pm
