We are seeking a passionate and skilled artisan baker to join our small, friendly, but mighty artisan bakery in Stony Stratford, Milton Keynes. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role at the start of our next chapter, as we refocus our specialism on sourdough and handmade breads, with ambitious growth plans.
The ideal candidate will have a deep love for real bread, a strong background in food production, and ideally proven experience in sourdough baking. You’ll bring creativity and an attention to detail in this hands-on environment, helping to shape and evolve our bread and pastry range.
This role offers creative freedom and the chance to grow alongside a business being built from the ground up.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- Prepare, bake, and present high-quality artisan breads, baked goods, and specialised products, with a passion for sourdough. Pastry experience such as croissants desirable.
- Daily bread production according to established recipes and presentation standards.
- Contribute to the development of new recipes, seasonal products, and menu items, bringing creative ideas to enhance our offering.
- Maintain the highest standards of cleanliness, organisation, and food safety across the external bake house.
- Operate bakery equipment safely and efficiently, ensuring tools are well maintained.
- Collaborate closely with team members to ensure smooth operations across all areas of the business, particularly during busy production periods.
- Monitor stock levels and communicate ingredient and supply needs to support continuous production.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Proven experience in professional food production and/or baking.
- Desirable: Experience in sourdough production.
- Desirable: Experience in Viennoiserie and pastry production.
- Solid knowledge of culinary and baking techniques, including food safety standards.
- Previous experience in a restaurant, bakery, or professional kitchen environment.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to work efficiently under pressure.
- A genuine passion for high-quality, handcrafted food and attention to detail.
Hours & Working Pattern:
- Full-time: 37.5 hours per week
- Expected Shift Pattern:
- Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday
- 4:00am – 12:00 noon
Job Type: Full-time
