We're looking for an experienced Payroll Manager to lead our payroll function. This is a standalone specialist role with responsibility for the complete payroll cycle, from monthly processing and statutory payments through to pensions, reconciliations, reporting and compliance.
Reporting to the Head of HR, you'll be the organisation's payroll expert, providing advice and guidance to managers and employees while continually improving payroll processes and systems. You'll work closely with colleagues across HR and Finance, as well as external stakeholders including pension providers, auditors and HMRC.
You'll be someone who enjoys working independently, takes pride in accuracy and has a strong understanding of payroll legislation and pension administration. You'll have significant experience delivering end-to-end payroll within a medium or large organisation, excellent Excel skills, and the ability to analyse data, solve problems and explain complex payroll matters in a clear and approachable way.

Many of our staff work directly with patients and their families in nursing, health care and medical jobs. Others raise money to support patient care through our chain of over 40 charity shops and our fundraising activities. We also have a significant number of staff working in varied office-based roles.

Beyond our Inpatient Unit, you'll find our team in homes and on the phone 24/7. More recently in response to the pandemic we have moved some services online to continue support for our patients.
The Hospice is also a centre of educational excellence and we teach other healthcare professionals about how to care for people at the end of their lives, supporting the NHS and care homes provide end of life care.
