Overview
Storybook Dads is a small national charity with a big mission: helping imprisoned parents maintain meaningful relationships with their children through the power of storytelling. We enable parents in prison to record personalised stories for their children, helping families stay connected during what can be a very difficult time. Our community-based team edits and enhances recordings sent to us from more than 100 prisons across the UK.
The role
We are looking for a friendly, reliable and enthusiastic person to join our small team at our office in Saltash, Cornwall.
You will be trained to assist with the processing of recordings sent to us from approximately 100 prisons nationwide. You will learn to use audio/ video editing software to edit and enhance recordings of imprisoned parents reading stories to their children. There is also a consdierable amount of associated administration tasks.
Previous experience is not required – full training will be provided. This is not complicated audio / video editing, however, you should be comfortable using a computer and have good basic IT skills.
The position is for 16 hours per week, with the possibility of increased hours in the future, though it will not be a full time position. Starting pay is £13.35 per hour.
This is an office-based role and does not involve working in a prison or working directly with prisoners. However, because of the sensitive nature of our work, the successful applicant will be required to undergo Enhanced Prison Service Vetting through an online portal.
You will also have the opportunity to visit a nearby prison to see the recording process in action and gain a better understanding of how the recordings you will be editing are created.
