Recruiting - Senior Youth Worker, Hertford
We operate a two bed children's home in Hertford. We work with young people that have experienced trauma, though we can look after young people aged 8, we generally look after teenagers, with the aim to get them reintegrated back to mainstream care settings, or to semi-independent living.
We wish to recruit a Senior Youth Worker to join our team. You will either currently be working as a senior worker in a residential home or you will be an experienced youth worker ready for the next step. We offer the opportunity to join a small, friendly team who are passionate and committed to improving the outcomes for our young people.
You will be contracted to work 36 hours per week with a salary of £24,804 per annum. However, some shifts may consist of two 24-hour shifts per week, which can result in realistic annual earnings of approximately £33,000 per annum. There may also be occasional office days where you will be required to work within the children’s home.
Key Requirements:
- Two years’ experience working with young people
- Driving Licence and a Vehicle
Key Duties:
- Supervising the team delivering day to day therapeutic support to the young people that live in the home, in line with the Secure Base Model.
- Ensuring all administrative duties are undertaken.
- Organising and participating in activities with young people.
- Holding one to one sessions.
- One night on call per week, one weekend day on call per month.
Overseeing staff on a key team, to monitor progress, short term and long-term goals of the young person.
- Report writing and attending meetings with professionals and family
- Following the homes policies and procedures and ensuring other members of staff comply.
- Participating in support plans and risk management for each young person.
- Managing challenging behaviour displayed by young people
- Completing a monthly report for a young person, reflecting on incidents, behaviour, positives, negatives, education etc.
We offer development training and career progression. All candidates must have a car and undergo an enhanced DBS check to ensure candidates are suitable to work with children.
