Job title: Lead Environmental, Health, Safety, & Quality Officer (EHSQO)
Main purpose of job: To oversee our Integrated Management System (IMS) and champion a culture of excellence across our UK and Northern Ireland operations. Responsibility for ensuring full compliance with all relevant legislation, maintaining our ISO certifications, and driving continuous improvement in safety performance, quality standards, and environmental sustainability.

Main duties: Health & Safety Leadership
Direct all health and safety activities, ensuring compliance with the Health and Safety at Work (NI) Order 1978 and the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 (GB). Act as the primary point of contact for the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and HSENI.
Develop, implement, and monitor robust risk assessment procedures, method statements, and safe systems of work. Lead accident/incident investigations, performing root cause analysis and implementing effective corrective and preventive actions.
Manage non-conformances and drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and product/service quality. Design and deliver comprehensive safety training programs for all levels of staff.
Maintain and develop the Quality Management System (QMS), ensuring continued compliance with ISO 9001:2015. Plan and execute a rigorous internal audit schedule across all operational sites.
Coordinate external audits with certification bodies and oversee management review meetings.
Environmental Stewardship Oversee compliance with environmental legislation in both GB and NI, liaising with the Environment Agency and the Northern Ireland Environment Agency (NIEA).
Manage environmental aspects and impacts, including waste management, energy consumption, and pollution prevention. Maintain and improve the ISO 14001 environmental management system.
Report on KPIs related to sustainability targets and carbon footprint reduction strategies.
Strategy & Team Management Provide expert advice to the Senior Leadership Team regarding legislative changes and operational risks.
Mentor and lead the site-based safety and quality representatives. Foster a proactive safety culture where every employee feels empowered to challenge unsafe behaviors or processes.
Prepare and present monthly EHSQ performance reports to the Board.
Essential Skills & Experience
Professional Qualification: NEBOSH National Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety (or equivalent Level 6 qualification).
Chartered Status: CMIOSH (Chartered Member of IOSH) or working towards this status.
Auditing: Lead Auditor qualification for ISO 9001 and ISO 14001.
Legislative Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of UK and NI safety and environmental law.
Industry Experience: 2+ years of experience in a similar EHSQ leadership role, ideally within waste management.
Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels, from shop floor to boardroom.
Certifications (Essential) Continuing competence requirement for maintenance of the CIWM (WAMITAB) Level 4 Medium Risk Operator Competence for Non-Hazardous Waste Treatment and Transfer 4MTMRF6.
Desirable Attributes Experience with ISO 45001 (Occupational Health and Safety). Experience managing multi-site operations across the UK and Northern Ireland. Proficiency in EHSQ software/management platforms.
Pay: £40,000.00-£45,000.00 per year
