Love proper cooking? Looking to work alongside a talented Head Chef and be part of an independent pub group that genuinely invests in its people?
If so, we'd love to hear from you.
We're looking for a Sous Chef to join the kitchen team at The Tivoli in the heart of Cheltenham.
Working alongside our Head Chef, Katie, you'll help lead a busy, friendly kitchen producing honest, seasonal British pub food using quality ingredients and traditional cooking techniques.
If you enjoy game, offal, proper stocks and sauces, local produce and straightforward cooking done really well, you'll fit right in. No micro herbs, no tweezers and definitely no unnecessary fuss.
The Tivoli is a thriving, food-led pub with around 100 covers, two private dining rooms and a loyal local following. We change our menu every month, run weekly specials and take real pride in serving great pub food without overcomplicating it.
Accommodation is available for the right candidate in the form of a fully furnished, private one-bedroom flat above the pub. The Tivoli is also just a 15 minute walk from Cheltenham Spa railway station.
Why join us?
We believe the best kitchens are built by people who genuinely enjoy coming to work.
That's why we've built a business where people stay. We invest in our chefs, promote from within and create kitchens where people can learn, develop and enjoy what they do.
Many of our Head Chefs and senior managers have progressed through the business, and we're proud to give ambitious chefs genuine opportunities to build long-term careers with us.
Our owners remain actively involved across all of our pubs, and our Executive Chef works closely with every kitchen, providing support, mentoring and development across the group.
What you'll receive
- £43,000 package
- 48-hour contracted week
- Consecutive days off guaranteed
- Rotas actively managed to avoid burnout
- Accommodation available – a fully furnished private one bedroom flat above the pub
- Christmas Day off guaranteed
- Company pension
- Staff meals whilst on duty
- 25% discount on food and drink across all our pubs
- Refer-a-friend bonus scheme
- Twice yearly company staff parties
- Structured training and development
- Genuine opportunities to progress across our growing pub group
The Role
As Sous Chef, you'll work closely with Head Chef Katie to help lead the kitchen, maintain exceptional standards and inspire the team.
This is a hands on role where you'll lead by example, support the development of junior chefs and play a key role in delivering consistently excellent food.
Responsibilities include:
- Supporting the Head Chef with the day-to-day running of the kitchen

- Preparing and cooking fresh, seasonal dishes to a consistently high standard
