Our team boasts of highly experienced specialists in Medical Retina, Cornea, Paediatrics, Neuro-Ophthalmology , Glaucoma and Oculoplastics. We have a close working relationship with other specialties within the Trust that further support the service. We are supported by efficient, innovative and well led Nursing, Orthoptic and Optometrist teams.
We are excited to recruit a part time Oculoplastics Specialist Doctor to provide excellent care to our patients. The post is fixed term for 12 months.
We expect the right candidate to be a role model and be to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team through effective communication and influencing skills.
As well as being a highly skilled and experienced Oculoplastics doctor, who will have continuing responsibility for the care of patients in their charge and under the care of consultant ophthalmologists within the Oculoplastics a service, the successful candidate will have a broad experience in the management of ophthalmology outpatients and will engage in all aspects of ophthalmology patient pathways, including in programmed Eye Casualty sessions.
The workload will include oculoplastics clinics and eye casualty sessions, and the post holder will also be expected to fulfil the following duties within the agreed job plan:
- Provision and development of exceptional ophthalmology services
- Continuing responsibility for the care of patients in his/her charge and the proper functioning of the department
- Actively participate in clinical governance and audits
- Actively participate in departmental meetings
These duties are subject to review from time to time in the light of the changing requirements of the service.

We run a Women’s Health Hub in Ilford; an Ageing Well Centre in Hornchurch; and Community Diagnostic Centres (CDC) at Barking Community Hospital and at St George’s Health and Wellbeing Hub. These CDCs are open 12 hours a day, 7 days a week.
