Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Care Home Cook to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing nutritious, balanced, and appealing meals for residents in a caring environment. Duties
- Prepare and cook daily meals in accordance with dietary requirements and nutritional guidelines
- Plan menus that cater to residents’ specific health needs and preferences
- Ensure all food is prepared hygienically, adhering to food safety regulations
- Manage stock levels, order supplies, and maintain organisation within the kitchen
- Serve meals in a timely manner, ensuring presentation is appealing
- Maintain cleanliness of kitchen equipment, utensils, and work surfaces
- Monitor food storage conditions to prevent spoilage or contamination
- Collaborate with care staff to accommodate special dietary requests or restrictions
- Assist with cleaning duties related to the kitchen area and dining spaces
Experience
- Proven experience in food preparation and cooking, ideally within a care home, or similar setting
- Knowledge of food safety standards and regulations
- Experience with meal planning and nutritional considerations for diverse dietary needs
- Familiarity with kitchen equipment and culinary techniques
- Previous experience in serving meals in a professional environment is advantageous
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining high standards of hygiene and presentation
