Isla Rose is searching for an experienced Maintenance Engineer on behalf of an established heavy engineering company in the West Midlands. The business is continuing to invest in its engineering team and is looking to recruit an experienced mechanically biased engineer to support the maintenance and reliability of its manufacturing equipment.
We are looking to speak with candidates who have a strong mechanical maintenance background within heavy engineering, steel processing, manufacturing or similar industrial environments. Applicants should be confident working on hydraulic and pneumatic systems, carrying out mechanical repairs and fault finding, and supporting planned and reactive maintenance activities. Basic electrical fault-finding experience would be advantageous but is not essential.
This role is available on a permanent contract.
Key Duties
- Planned and reactive maintenance
- Mechanical fault finding and repairs
- Working on hydraulic and pneumatic systems
- General welding and fabrication
- Oxygen/acetylene burning
- Bench fitting and mechanical assembly
- Basic electrical fault finding
- Supporting continuous improvement and equipment reliability
- Working safely within a heavy engineering environment
Applicants should ideally be apprentice trained and hold an NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Maintenance or a related engineering discipline. Candidates from heavy engineering, steel processing or similar industrial environments will be particularly suited to this position.
The salary on offer starts from £35,000 depending on experience.
You will initially work on a rotating AM/PM shift pattern, with the role moving to a three-shift rotation as the business continues to grow.
