Pay: £16.00 per hour weekdays; £18.00 per hour weekends and bank holidays
Enhanced DBS: Required — paid for by the employer
Driving licence: Preferred, not essential
The role
We are looking for a kind, dependable and respectful Personal Care Assistant to give palliative care to a witty, intelligent blind man living with advanced Multiple Sclerosis in his own home in Radstock.
This is a one-to-one role within a small, friendly care team. You will provide practical support, companionship and personal care while helping him maintain independence, choice and control over his daily life. He enjoys good conversation and appreciates people who listen, have a sense of humour and treat him with dignity.
This role is ideal for someone looking for consistent, meaningful care work without travelling between multiple calls.
Set shift pattern
The role follows a two-week rota:
Week 1
- Sunday: 7.00am–8.00pm
- Monday: 7.00am–1.00pm
Week 2
Additional hours are often available to cover holidays and sickness.
What you’ll do
- Provide personal care, including bathing, dressing and grooming
- Support with mobility and safe transfers
- Administer medication and monitor wellbeing in line with the care plan
- Prepare meals and carry out light household tasks
- Offer companionship and engaging conversation
- Keep accurate, up-to-date care records
- Follow the agreed care plan and report any changes in health or wellbeing promptly
- Help maintain a safe, comfortable and respectful home environment

About you
Care experience is welcomed, but the right attitude, reliability and willingness to learn matter just as much. We encourage applications from people with personal care or domiciliary care experience, as well as those new to care who can demonstrate the qualities needed for this role.

Desirable
- Experience in home care, domiciliary care or personal assistance
- Experience supporting someone with Multiple Sclerosis or another neurological condition
- Medication administration and basic first-aid knowledge
- A full UK driving licence
