Job Overview
Lord Logistics Group Ltd is currently recruiting for an experienced and reliable HGV Class 1 Driver to join our growing transport operation.
The position will initially be offered on a 3-month temporary-to-permanent basis, with the opportunity to secure a permanent position following successful completion of the initial period.
The role will involve a mixture of container and general haulage work, transporting loads between ports, customer sites, depots and distribution centres across the UK.
This is predominantly a tramping position, and drivers should be prepared to spend approximately 3–4 nights away from home per week, depending on operational requirements.
Pay
- £15.00 per hour
- £25 night-out allowance for each qualifying night away
- Full-time, regular and ongoing work
- Overtime opportunities may be available depending on operational requirements
Key Responsibilities
- Safely transport containers and general haulage loads between ports, customer sites, depots and distribution centres.
- Complete all deliveries and collections safely, efficiently and within required timescales.
- Carry out thorough daily vehicle and trailer walkaround checks and report any defects promptly.
- Complete all required paperwork, delivery documentation and electronic records accurately.
- Comply fully with Drivers' Hours Regulations, Working Time Regulations, tachograph requirements and all relevant road transport legislation.
- Follow all company health and safety, compliance and operational procedures.
- Maintain a professional standard of conduct when representing the company at customer and supplier locations.
- Plan and manage routes effectively while considering traffic conditions, legal driving hours and operational requirements.
- Maintain the cleanliness and condition of the allocated vehicle.
Requirements
Applicants must:
- Hold a valid HGV Class 1 (Category C+E) licence.
- Hold a valid Driver CPC qualification.
- Hold a valid Digital Tachograph Card.
- Have a minimum of 2 years' HGV Class 1 driving experience due to insurance requirements.
- Be 30 years of age or over due to current insurance requirements.
- Have a good understanding of Drivers' Hours Regulations, Working Time Regulations and tachograph rules.
- Be reliable, professional and capable of working independently.
- Be flexible regarding start and finish times.
- Be willing and able to stay away overnight when required.
Previous container experience is preferred but is not essential, as appropriate training can be provided.

Additional Information
Due to the nature of the transport industry, this role may involve early starts, variable finish times, long working days within legal limits and overnight stays.
Drivers must therefore be comfortable working flexibly to meet operational and customer requirements while remaining fully compliant with all applicable Drivers' Hours and Working Time legislation.
